First Nations Students' Committee

Dave Pearson Gathering Space & First Nations Students' Committee

First Nations students are welcome to drop by the Dave Pearson Gathering Space, located on the upper level of the Students' Union building. Named after Dave Pearson, the LSU's first Aboriginal Students' Advisor, this centre is a place to meet new friends, have discussions on relevant issues, and use the resources. We have, over the years, retained literature, videos, pamphlets and calendars on a wide variety of topics pertaining to natives in Canada and North America.

The Centre also offers the following services: computers and printer, student-maintained telephone message board and voice mail-box. This is also the organizing headquarters for the Aboriginal Students' Committee.

The Aboriginal Committee networks with students on and off campus (Intercampus Aboriginal Student Network) through the Aboriginal Students' Advisor, the elected Board representative on the LSU's Council.

The Committee also organizes on-campus events such as the Aboriginal Awareness Days, held during the Spring semester, and sends representation to various off-campus activities as needed. For more information contact the Students' Union reception at 604-324-3881, ex. 0.
